The Coaching Habit: Say Less, Ask More & Change the Way You Lead Forever: High on promises, low on follow through I really wanted to like this book. The author’s writing style is intriguing, and he made a lot of bold promises on the value of this book. But this book just did not deliver. A lot the book was wasted space from quotes being inserted as jumbo font on pages. And honestly, most of the quotes highlighted on these solo pages are not that powerful.I felt like the material was entry-level EQ, and didn’t actually teach you how to coach people. It’s almost like he was advocating through his “silence the advice monster” that your role as a coach is almost that of a psychologist to just ask these ambiguous questions and nod while saying “hmmm…okay…I see.” To me, this book was more a book about how to be a better listener than it was on how to be a better coach.

The Coaching Habit: Say Less, Ask More & Change the Way You Lead Forever: Simply put Ideally, all new managers would have this book within reach. But I think it may be even more useful for those who haven't yet reached that rank. The emphasis is on the general curiosity and hard skills that are essential to leading people well, to simply making the boss' job easier. Bonus points that it's a quick/easy read.

The Coaching Habit: Say Less, Ask More & Change the Way You Lead Forever: Missing fleshed out examples The framework is solid and the writing is breezy, but it *seems* like the book is more about helping others help themselves over coaching them for growth or through conflicts. Which, to be fair, is also extremely valuable, just not quite what I was expecting. Also, it would have been useful to have examples of how to deal with employees who are resistant to the approach.

The Coaching Habit: Say Less, Ask More & Change the Way You Lead Forever: Less advice, more questions. I am a master teacher and my principal recommended this book as I was prepping to take a coaching job. There’s coaching to improve the human capital of others and there’s making those you Coach feel like crap. This books gives you the strategies and talking points to elicit thoughts and reflections of the staff without constantly dumping your advice on them. Allow them the space to reflect and see where they can improve while you work collaboratively with them to build on that. I’m not saying it’s easy; I’m saying this makes it a bit more feasible.

The Coaching Habit: Say Less, Ask More & Change the Way You Lead Forever: Level up your coaching game The book is truly connecting dots with your day to day management experiences. It explains how a simple series of 7 questions changes entire coaching experience for you. It’s effective, easy and most importantly impacting. Would definitely recommend as a must read.
